Tonight I went to a charity event for the Grant-a-Starr foundation in Houston. www.grantastarr.org
I met first Rod then Delores Starr some time ago through work and could not have imagined the tragedy that would befall them. Rod and Delores were, and are, happy and fun people but it did not stop them losing a son to a virus that is yet to be diagnosed. It took some 50 days for their young son to pass from life to death - something that must have scarred them deeper than we can ever, ever know.
And yet tonight I watched as both of them talked eloquently of their son, their new mission in life, and how they intend to make a difference. Read their story at the web site above and consider giving. In fact just give. We hear so much of what is bad in the world. Listening to Rod and Delores made me think again of the movie “Life is Beautiful”. Of course the stories are different but yet they tell us the same thing. No matter what life throws at us, the very act of life is a gift. Rejoice every day you have it.
