Here are a few things from the net that I thought you may find interesting and stimulating. In no particular order:
I read a lot of Calvin in seminery but have not really returned since (I am ashamed to say). This sermon reminded me of why I enjoyed reading him so much. A deeply practical and pastoral sermon: http://reformedperspectives.org/newfiles/joh_calvin/joh_calvin.mandm.html
Oh dear. An optimistic, if deeply stupid Texan crook. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7380637.stm
As someone who has generally appreciated what Barak Obama has done for the presidential race I am just depressed to see this Rev. Wright debacle. The fact is, it does tell us something about Obama. This article seems to get right the way in which I have been wrong. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmRjZjU5MTZkN2FjYzNlZDJmODMyODY0YTAxMjlmYTE
Your kids (or maybe you) will be going to see Iron Man at the movies. I am amazed at the range of outlets that have given it an excellent review. Take a look at this one - it has some cool questions at the end that help you discuss the movie with children or significant other. Also, any movie that has Gwyneth Paltrow playing a character named “Pepper Potts” gets my vote. http://www.christianitytoday.com/movies/reviews/2008/ironman.html
And finally, a book. I am reading (when I can) to my little girl, Hope, the Chronicles of Narnia. Soon, “Prince Caspian”, will appear on the movie screens. Get it here: http://www.amazon.com/Prince-Caspian-Full-Color-Collectors-Lewis/dp/0064409449 The book, like the whole “Chronicles” series, is full of wisdom and insight about what it means to be a Christian.
Enjoy!
